The marketing pathway version of our Business Management degree is aimed at students with an interest in pursuing a career in marketing or business management, and offers a grounding in both areas.
With this course you’ll learn about how strategic marketing planning and communications contribute to the success of organisations internationally. We’ve designed this course to help develop your skills in planning, presenting, communication and teamwork, preparing you for a wide range of positions, including roles in digital communications, customer behaviour and management.
Due to the high level of marketing studied during this course, you will also receive an exemption from the Chartered Institute of Marketing for the Level 4 Marketing module within the Certificate in Professional Marketing.
After graduating from this course you could consider following specialised business and marketing postgraduate options such as an MSc in International Marketing, Digital Marketing or Strategic Business Management.
Our degrees are built around preparing you for the workplace and with that in mind, we encourage students to select the option to undertake a placement year.
Taking place in the 3rd year of a 4-year degree, you’ll have the opportunity to find paid work, putting the learning of your first 2 years into practice to develop and enhance real world skills to launch your career.
So how does it work?
Whilst you will be responsible for finding your own placement, our dedicated Business Employability Team will be on hand to support you through the process. The hours per week that you work will be determined by your placement organisation, however, expect it to be between 18 hours and 35 hours per week for a minimum of 30 weeks. If you’re not successful in securing a placement then not to worry - you’ll simply transfer to a non-placement version of your course. The final assessment for the Placement Year is a reflective presentation summarising your learning and experience.
Our placement year courses are open to everyone including international students, who can contact our International office for specific advice and guidance. Please note - placement year is currently not available for courses at our Hong Kong campus.
See Placement Year FAQs for further details.
You can choose to take an additional Foundation Year before you start this course. This introductory year focuses on developing the key skills required to study at degree level and covers the same modules across all business and law courses. The modules covered will initially enhance your communications skills, digital and information literacy, and ability to think critically. In addition, modules covering the Foundations of Business Management, Law, and Social Sciences will not only support your progression onto your business degree, but also give you an introduction to other disciplines. You then have the added flexibility of switching your degree programme if another discipline captures your interest, subject to availability and entry requirements.
Entry requirements for the Foundation Year are different than for our three year degrees. For full details, check our Entry Requirements page.
Students have the option to undertake a paid Placement Year with a business employer.
