This module guides you through creating a Professional Development Plan (PDP) to enhance your job search and career advancement. Through interactive workshops, dedicated leadership coaching sessions and a digital PebblePad portfolio, you'll gain hands-on experience in core leadership competencies.
Project Management – Concepts and Frameworks (15 credits)
This module provides a critical, applied understanding of the core concepts, frameworks and strategic approaches underpinning postgraduate study in project management. Designed to equip you with essential sector foundations, it explores project characteristics, key organisational roles, governance structures and traditional versus hybrid delivery methodologies. You'll analyse the impact of emerging digital technologies on modern project delivery while investigating key management challenges and strategic solutions. Taught with a high degree of critical insight, this module develops the analytical mindset and practical understanding required to navigate complex, contemporary business environments with confidence.
Agile and Hybrid Project Delivery (30 credits)
This module offers a thorough exploration of adaptive and hybrid project management frameworks, emphasising when each approach is most effective. You'll learn to lead projects by blending structured governance with adaptive delivery across three core themes. First, you'll evaluate agile frameworks (such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and DSDM) to select and tailor methodologies. Second, you'll navigate contemporary digital tools and software platforms. Third, you'll build data literacy to interpret dashboards and burn-down charts for informed decision-making. Through interactive workshops, case studies and practical preparation and consolidation activities, you'll create real-world project artefacts and build professional confidence.
Applied Project Planning (30 credits)
This module provides a critical, practice first understanding of the core concepts, frameworks and strategic tools shaping modern project management. Addressing the primary cause of project failure - inadequate initial planning - it develops the practical craft required to define scope, construct credible schedules, level resources, establish baselines and manage stakeholders. Grounded in APM, PRINCE2 and PMI PMBOK professional standards, you'll gain hands-on software fluency using industry standard tools like Microsoft Project. Enhanced by interactive simulation and gamification, this module equips you with the technical and professional decision-making competencies demanded by global employers at mid-to-senior project management levels.
Leading Projects in the AI and Digital Age (30 credits)
This module provides a critical, applied understanding of project leadership, AI-driven transformation and digital information within contemporary organisations. You'll examine the strategic, ethical and operational challenges associated with leading projects in the digital age, exploring how AI, automation and emerging platforms reshape decision-making, governance and stakeholder environments. The module develops your core leadership capabilities alongside a deep commitment to ethical practice, responsible AI, sustainability and digital governance. Taught with a focus on analytical insight and professional responsibility, it equips you to critically evaluate digital transformation challenges and deliver high-impact, strategic project solutions within complex organizational ecosystems.
Contemporary Issues in Project Management (30 credits)
This module explores contemporary project management challenges through critical analysis of real-world case studies and the complex ethical considerations inherent in modern business decision making. Selected cases highlight strategic leadership, global project delivery, change management, stakeholder engagement and resource allocation across diverse organisational settings. You'll examine key contemporary themes, including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), technological disruption, human centric leadership, psychological safety and diversity and inclusion. Grounded in practical application, the module develops your ability to manage cross-functional teams, vendor relationships and project risks, equipping you to make ethical, high-impact decisions in complex, global environments.
Strategic Project and Programme Management (30 credits)
This module provides a critical exploration of strategic project and programme management within contemporary organisations, examining how they drive strategy, transformation, innovation and value creation. You'll address complex challenges inherent in governance, strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and high-level decision making. Grounded in professional practice, you'll evaluate key frameworks covering benefits realisation, organisational change, risk, digital transformation, sustainability and ESG. The module examines the impact of emerging technologies, AI, globalisation and complexity on modern delivery. Through critical analysis and strategic reasoning, you'll build the expertise required to navigate uncertainty, solve organisational challenges and capture strategic opportunities in diverse business contexts.
Professional Development Plan (0 credits)
This compulsory module enables you to review your professional skills and competency evolution throughout your year of study. You’ll engage in interactive workshops and a final one-to-one coaching session to revise your growth priorities, fine-tune your executive skills and cultivate a lifelong growth mindset. By evaluating your developed competencies in critical thinking, cultural intelligence and innovation, you’ll independently construct a mandatory, forward-looking Professional Development Plan to accelerate your long-term career trajectory and confidently secure leadership roles.

If you have chosen the Professional Practice year, you can undertake a work placement or business project in your second year.
