The University of Law (ULaw) has today announced the acquisition of the London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA), expanding its portfolio of career focused education and creating new opportunities for undergraduate students across a wider range of disciplines.
The acquisition marks a further step in ULaw’s evolution as a provider of career-focused higher education. In recent years, ULaw has expanded beyond its traditional professional legal education offer into business, computer science and psychology, establishing a substantial undergraduate and postgraduate presence across a range of professional disciplines. The acquisition of LCCA strengthens the University’s undergraduate offering in business, hospitality and the creative industries.
LCCA brings an established reputation for practical, industry-connected education and a strong commitment to widening participation. Its addition to ULaw brings together two institutions with a shared focus on employability, student success and preparing graduates for the changing world of work.
The acquisition will bring LCCA into ULaw's wider academic community, building on its established industry partnerships and practice approach to learning. The immediate priority will be to ensure continuity for existing students, maintaining the quality of their educational experience and build on the opportunities this brings for the future.
LCCA will also benefit from ULaw's established academic governance, quality assurance processes and student support infrastructure. As an OfS-registered university with extensive experience of delivering higher education at scale, ULaw has robust structures in place to safeguard academic standards, oversee teaching quality and support positive student outcomes.
The acquisition also supports ULaw's ambition to broaden access to career-focused higher education. By bringing together LCCA's strengths in creative and practical education with ULaw's experience in professional education, the University aims to create new opportunities for students across a wider range of disciplines and industries.
Professor Andrea Nollent, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of The University of Law, said:
“LCCA is a strong strategic fit for The University of Law. It shares our belief that higher education should equip students with the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed in their chosen careers.
“The acquisition of LCCA is an exciting next step in our development, extending our expertise in career focused education into new disciplines. We look forward to building on LCCA’s strengths, welcoming students and colleagues into our wider academic community, and creating new opportunities for collaboration.”
