We want to hear your opinions on how technology is impacting young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

Psychology Essay Competition

Answer the question below and write an essay that argues the differing views across the emerging area of cyberpsychology.

‘How can technology support young people’s mental health and wellbeing?’

Be inquisitive, research to expand your knowledge in the area and develop key skills that will help you achieve your ambitions.

How to enter

The competition is open to:

  • Students studying in year 12-13 (in school and college)
  • Students studying an undergraduate degree (at a UK University)

Watch our ‘Ace that Essay’ event to find out more about the essay topic and to develop your essay skills.
Dr Julie Prescott will give you an introduction to cyberpsychology, the emerging area of psychology that combines mental health and digital technologies and give you some top tips of how to structure and research for your essay.

Who are the judges and how will the winning essays be selected?

The competition entries will be shortlisted by ULaw on the following criteria:

  • Clearly articulated arguments supported by evidence.
  • Quality and quantity of academic sources and referencing.
  • A novel or thought-provoking approach to the question.
  • A high standard of spelling and grammar.
  • An engaging writing style.
Shortlisted entries will then be judged by the The Mental Health and Digital Technologies editorial team and One winner and runner-up will be selected from each age category.
