Business Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Three Year Degrees

For all undergraduate three year degrees

Grades BBC at A Level and Grade C or grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent qualifications).

For BSc Accounting and Finance

In addition to the above entry requirements, applicants with further professional body qualifications (papers) applying for BSc Accounting & Finance have the following options:

ACCA F1-F4 or CIMA BA1-BA4: direct entry to Year 2

ACCA F1-F9: direct entry to Year 3

For international students, we require an English language level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

We are now offering a pre-sessional English course to students who need to improve their English skills in order to meet the IELTS requirements for entry onto our undergraduate courses. This course is available to students studying at London Bloomsbury. See pre-sessional English section below.

Four Year Degrees (including foundation)

Standard entry requirements:

  • 32 UCAS points form the equivalent of one A Level or 40 UCAS points from the equivalent of two A Levels 
  • 5 GCSEs at A-C (9 to 4) including English, and Grade D (4) or above in Maths or equivalent qualifications

For international students, we require an English language level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or above, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

Non-standard entry route A:

Where students have obtained the necessary UCAS points but do not possess 5 GCSEs at A-C, the provision of English and Maths equivalencies will be acceptable in addition to a completed CV document providing supplementary information. If a student does not have the English and Maths equivalents they can sit the in-house numeracy and literacy test.

Non-standard entry route B:

In order to consider students who come from a non-traditional background, applicants with no formal qualifications will be invited in-campus to complete an in-house numeracy test in addition to an English and business acumen test, as well as a formal interview. They will also need to provide 2 years of appropriate work experience evidenced in a full CV and a reference. For more information about non-standard criteria please contact  admissions@law.ac.uk

BA (Hons) International Business Management (Top Up):

  • International students with a minimum of 240 QCF credits via a HND or equivalent qualification at Merit level (75 credits at Merit level)
  • An English Language level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above with a minimum of 5.5 in each component

International Foundation Programme

  • International students over 18 who have successfully completed secondary education (typically at least 11 years of education) including a pass grade in mathematics at secondary school level or equivalent
  • An English language level equivalent to UKVI IELTS 5.0 or above with a minimum of 4.5 in each component

Pre-sessional English

Who the course is aimed at

The University of Law Pre-sessional programme is designed to help students reach the required IELTS level for their main degree studies.

We are accepting students on two routes:

  • London Bloomsbury students with offers for the four-year undergraduate business degrees (with an integrated Foundation Year): the Pre-sessional programme aims to take you from an IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 in each component) to a 5.5 or above (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component).
  • London Bloomsbury students with offers for the three-year undergraduate business degrees: the Pre-sessional programme aims to take you from an IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in each component) to 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component).
