The University of Law pledges support for those impacted by the pandemic with new scholarship scheme

One of the UK's longest-established specialist providers of legal education and training in the UK, The University of Law, has announced a brand new scholarship to support those whose careers have been impacted by the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Many UK industries and businesses are inevitably feeling the impact of these unprecedented times, leaving thousands out of work with vacancies in some industries falling by up to 80%. To support those whose job security has been impacted and want to re-train, ULaw’s Career Changer scholarship will provide up to 10 full fee scholarships and 300 individual awards as part of a £750,000 fund, to cover all or some of the course fees. The scholarship is in addition to the £2m fund already available for students commencing studies in the 2020/21 academic year.

In combination with the upcoming Law Live Lecture Series, the scholarship provides applicants with an opportunity to study any of ULaw’s wide ranging programmes, including an MSc, GDL or MA Law, LPC, LLM  LLB or BPC. Alternatively, applicants can pursue a business route with ULaw Business School, or opportunities in criminology and the police force through ULaw’s professional policing programme.

The Career Changer scholarship is available for September 2020 enrolment and those interested will be able to register by heading to ULaw’s ‘Scholarships and Bursaries’ page onsite. Once applicants have registered their interest, ULaw Programme Consultants will make contact to explain the criteria and send the application form.

Registration will open on Monday 4th May and the deadline for applicants to apply is the 1st August.

Professor Andrea Nollent, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of ULaw, said: “We have an absolute commitment to creating opportunities for students in what is an incredibly challenging time. In no way can we totally alleviate the stress many will be feeling at this moment, however for those looking to use this time to invest in themselves and a new path for the future, we can be there to help.”

“Our extensive list of scholarships and bursaries are designed to help ambitious, talented individuals to achieve their goal of a successful career in business, policing or law. We hope those affected by the pandemic will take this opportunity to register their interest onsite so we can help guide them to a new career.”
