Introducing The University of Law London Alumni Network

At the University of Law, we’re delighted to have a global community of over 100,000 alumni across 155 countries. Our thriving London-based campuses at Bloomsbury and Moorgate have led to a huge network of contacts and, as a result, a large number of our alumni are based in the UK capital. To reinforce professional and personal connections within this community, we are delighted to introduce The University of Law London Alumni Network (LAN).

By Elsa Tatam. Published 22 June 2022. Last updated 8 June 2023.

LAN has been set up by a dedicated committee of alumni with the mission to strengthen bonds of both fellowship and collaboration among its members through various upcoming events. The committee includes a diverse group of The University of Law’s alumni with varying roles. The committee is made up of:

Rebecca St. Requier – Chair

Rebecca completed her LPC with The University of Law in Moorgate, funded by a Law Society Diversity Bursary. She describes herself as a career changer, having run a small business in California in her twenties. After transitioning to law, she discovered a passion for corporate law and dispute resolution for commercial problems.

William Costa – Co-Chair

William is a corporate solicitor at Baker McKenzie. His practice focuses on private mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and global reorganisations. He studied the LPC at The University of Law at our London Moorgate campus in 2015 and then qualified in 2020. William is an advocate for diversity, equality, and inclusion in the legal profession.

Daren Kemp - Secretary

Daren is a Chartered Governance Institute Fellow and is a consultant solicitor at Simmons & Simmons Adaptive. His practice currently focuses on the financial markets sector. Daren worked in-house for many years in a professional services organisation. He started his career as a PA to senior partners at PricewaterhouseCoopers before embarking on the law conversion course with us (then the College of Law) in Store Street.

Jenny Suprani – Events Officer/Deputy Secretary

Jenny has a civil law background gained with a law degree from Bologna University. She joined us to study the GDL from 2011-2013 and the LPC from 2013-2015. Jenny works as an assistant company secretary and Compliance manager. She supports in-house legal counsel and works closely with senior management and board members in a large private organisation. Jenny has extensive experience in corporate governance, general corporate law, risk, and compliance, focusing on the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa. She previously worked for a law firm as a legal assistant specialising in international real estate (Italian desk) and currently volunteers at a legal clinic in London.

Tom Montgomery – Events Officer

Tom Montgomery works in the media and entertainment industry and is currently working in Legal and Business Affairs at Paramount Global. Previously, Tom has worked at Harbottle & Lewis LLPNBCUniversal Media, LLC and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Tom is a University of Law alumnus who completed the LPC, and his hobbies include music and boxing.

Shuaib Baig – Co-Deputy Chair

Shuaib is a recently qualified associate within the Financial Services team at Eversheds Sutherland. Shuaib has a background in the financial services sector, having also worked for GAM Investments in the City of London and Dynamo, a specialist mortgage brokerage obtaining relevant qualifications.

Natasha Treohan – Membership Officer

Natasha completed an undergraduate degree in business administration and then studied the GDL with us in 2017. After her GDL, she gained paralegal experience before working in three high-street law firms, focusing on areas of law including criminal law, family law, wills and probate, commercial property, housing law, immigration, and asylum. She hopes to become a solicitor and is currently working on her training contract applications.

Karen Wang – Communications Officer

Karen accomplished her first university degree at École Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland and later obtained a master’s degree in International Relations at the Geneva School of Diplomacy and Development Studies at the London School of Economics. Her experience working at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva inspired her to pursue a career in law. She studied the GDL and LPC/LLM at our London Moorgate campus.

Our incredible LAN committee will be working closely with university staff to plan and introduce a series of events soon. We hope this network becomes a thriving group with members who support each other and enhance the opportunities of all involved.
