Our historyThe University of Law’s rich heritage includes a close association with the Law Society of England and Wales since the 1960s and becoming the first institution to develop law firm-specific postgraduate courses.
In 2006, the University made UK history by becoming the first independent institution to be granted degree-awarding powers. In 2012, we were awarded University status and launched the first truly professional, two-year LLB undergraduate law degree, with our three-year LLB commencing in 2013.

Our international connections
The better connected you are, the better your career prospects. We have trained more lawyers than any other law school, so naturally our network is larger and runs deeper. That is why, through The University of Law, you will have local and global connections that help you go places, meet people and build a better career.
Our strong worldwide reputation is supported by close connections to the British Council. We continue to forge ever-closer links with other leading law schools around the world, such as IE University.

Links across the industry
From a long standing association with the Law Society of England & Wales, to our status as trusted partner to the UK’s most influential industry bodies, we play an active role in defining and influencing key developments in legal education. Industry partners including the Bar Council, the Practical Law Company and Solicitors in Local Government mean we can stay fully informed on policy and practice.
Across the world, a number of influential international legal organisations are helping to shape both our world view and the way we interact with an increasingly global legal market. Through the British Council, we’ve extended our international links introducing lawyers from all over the world to English law.
We are active members of Education UK, the British Council’s official body for international students looking for courses to study in the UK. We regularly attend and exhibit at Education UK fairs all over the world. This gives prospective students the chance to meet us and learn more about the programmes we have on offer.
