Speaker Series: Criminal, Regulatory and Employment Issues Faced by Regulated Individuals and Senior Professionals in Hong Kong: What You Need to Know by Russell Bennett and Philip Swainston - Hong Kong Campus

This event is for students interested in our Hong Kong campus, and will be presented in English. Russell and Phil will give us an insight into rarely spoken about issues that can impact the lives and careers of regulated individuals and senior professionals of Hong Kong’s business community. Aspects such as the reduced right to silence and privilege against self-incrimination and offences related to secrecy/tipping off concerning the SFC, ICAC and AMLO/OSCO investigations. The speakers will talk about ways in which professionals might unwittingly commit and be convicted of criminal offences in respect of employment and immigration issues inadvertently encountered by them and their employers which can have devastating consequences including loss of careers and even short term imprisonment. This can extend to issues relating to their Foreign Domestic Helper. The times shown are UK times; Hong Kong times are 19:00 - 20:00.
