about

GN Law

GN Law are a niche high street practice based in North Finchley, London and Tring, Hertfordshire. They specialise in Legal Aid work, covering mental health law, family and children cases, actions against the police and other public authorities, and mental capacity cases in the Court of Protection. They also work in private areas which include wills and probate, trusts work, divorce, and private children and wardship matters for the Irish government.

Top three things they look for in graduates

The key skills graduates need to succeed at GN Law are:

  • The ability to work in a team
  • Strong organisation skills
  • The confidence to accept responsibility at an early stage in your career

Recruitment cycle dates

GN Law operates a rolling recruitment of paralegals into their mental health department and recruits at least twice a year for their Court of Protection department. Trainee solicitors, or SQE students, are asked to interview in September/October to start in March of the following year. The majority, if not all, of their trainees, are recruited from their ranks of paralegals.

GN Law’s current trainees have followed the LPC route, however, they have found an increasing number of their paralegals are taking the SQE. They are likely to start accepting both LPC and SQE students and graduates from March 2024. GN Law has designed a tailored, two year training contract to satisfy the requirements of both the LPC route and qualifying work experience for SQE.
