We have regulatory, societal and legal responsibilities to be climate responsible. We are already experiencing climate change impacts and need to be, and demonstrate that we are, a responsible business to investors, students, staff and regulators. Our vision to be a leading sustainable university cannot be delivered without establishing some good practices first.
This strategy pillar aims to fill gaps identified in how we are climate responsible. We need to ensure solid practices in how we manage our carbon footprint, waste, water and other impacts. It would not be appropriate for us to be a climate game-changer, given we lease our buildings and as an academic business our material impacts are through our students. But we do need to ensure our own practices are to a robust standard.
