Christmas gift guide for student budgets

It can be tricky enough to buy presents for your loved ones around the festive period, and when on a strict student budget, it can be even more challenging. With this in mind, we have put together a list of potential Christmas gifts for inspiration. Read on to find out a few of our suggestions.

Water bottle

There is no better gift than something your loved ones will use every day- and it is no secret that reusable water bottles are a staple in people’s backpacks. There are so many different types for you to choose from, so you can find the perfect one. Also, refilling a reusable water bottle also saves money rather than buying single-use bottles every time which is always a bonus.

We personally really like this one from John Lewis or you could opt for something personalised for that little extra touch.

Candles

It is no secret that candles are a festive favourite when it comes to gift-giving, and there is no secret why. You can find an array of scents to suit different people and there is such a variety it is easy to find something that fits every budget.

A few that we love are:

 Etsy Gift Sets

Etsy is the home to some of the best small businesses that will help make the season’s celebrations feel special- even when on a budget. Whilst you can find a gift box that will suit all interests and personalities, a couple that we think will make your loved ones smile this year are:

Framed photo

This is an excellent gift for those in your life who love something sentimental around the holiday period. A framed photo of friends, family or even a beloved pet is a great cost cost-effective gift that will mean a lot to whoever you are gifting to.

Warmies

Soft, weighted and perfect for cuddles. Warmies are the perfect microwavable blend of softness, comforting weight, and therapeutic warmth. There are a variety of different items, from heatable soft toys, neck wraps, and microwavable slippers- all perfect gifts for those trying to stay warm in these cold winter months.

Adopt with WWF

For animal lovers everywhere, WWF adoptions are incredibly meaningful. WWF are helping protect and restore iconic wildlife around the world and their precious habitats. WWF membership not only supports their work to restore nature and help tackle climate change but also provides your gift recipient with expert advice on how they can make a difference in their own life.

This gift is also more budget-friendly than you might think, as you can adopt an animal as a gift for just £3 a month.

Socks

You can rarely go wrong with socks- we all need them after all. Why not purchase a pair of quirky avocado socks or comfortable fluffy socks to keep your friends feet warm and cosy in the colder months? You could even pay for a sock subscription such as Awesome Socks Club, a service where the recipient gets a new pair of socks designed by an independent artist every month (with all the profits going towards helping build healthcare systems in disadvantaged communities).

Remember, spending times with loved ones and forging lasting memories is what the holiday season is all about so a thoughtful gift is the perfect present for anybody.

Although the holiday season is loved by many, it can also be the toughest time of the year for others. If you’re a University of Law student who needs advice on money or wellbeing, remember that our Support Services are there to help.
