The University of Law and University of Hull announce exclusive partnership to support the next generation of legal professionals

  • The University of Law (ULaw) has announced an exclusive partnership with University of Hull to deliver specialised postgraduate legal training courses at the University of Hull’s Law School.

From September 2025, ULaw's LLM Solicitor’s Qualification Exam (SQE) will be available as a full-time in person programme at the University of Hull, providing students with a clear pathway to qualification as solicitors under the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) new SQE regime. ULaw’s LLM SQE goes beyond the core SRA assessments, equipping students with advanced legal knowledge, practical skills, and real-world insights to help thrive in legal practice.

For non-law graduates with ambitions of a career in law, ULaw’s Post-graduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) courses will also be available at the University of Hull as a full-time course from September 2025.  This will offer a comprehensive foundation in legal training to support progression onto the SQE or Bar Practice Course (BPC).

With ULaw’s long-established reputation in delivering market leading legal education, students at University of Hull will benefit from expert teaching, industry connections and a strong focus on their employability.  This partnership will complement University of Hull’s Law School’s existing legal education offering, enhancing opportunities for students pursuing a career in law.

Dr Caroline Gibby, Head of Hull Law School, said: “We are excited to be partnering with the University of Law, who will be providing our students with an exceptional LLM SQE programme.

“We are confident that our students will enjoy and benefit from this well established and very successful course, delivered here at the University of Hull, which will enable our students to progress into the legal profession. This adds to the long-established tradition of legal education, and I am sure that there is more to come from this wonderful partnership.”

Professor Peter Crisp, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at The University of Law, said: “We are delighted to partner with the University of Hull, further expanding our presence within the UK’s leading education landscape.  This marks ULaw’s 10th collaboration with a university law school, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to supporting aspiring legal professionals across the country.  Through this partnership, students at Hull will benefit from our unparalleled expertise in postgraduate legal training, gaining the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their ambitions.  We look forward to working closely with Hull to help shape the next generation of legal talent.”
