The University of Law’s first International Summer School Programme

The University of Law was proud to host its first International Summer School programme running across the London campuses from 3-23rd August 2018.

Nine students from Beijing Normal University School of Law participated in the Summer School to gain an insight into the UK legal framework and develop skills in research, communication and mooting.

They were able to get a taste of what studying at The University of Law is like while also exploring London – one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities.

The 2018 Summer School programme consisted of a range of modules covering areas such as Common, Public, EU and Contract law which provided the students with a sound understanding of the UK legal framework.

The students enjoyed a number of trips in the city which included visits to the Supreme Court, Houses of Parliament, law firms and taking part in the London legal walk. There were also a number of evening and weekend social events with the crazy golf proving particularly popular.

The highlight of the Summer School programme was the final Mooting competition held at the Royal Courts of Justice on the last day. Throughout the Summer School the students have been preparing for this by undertaking presentation, trial and problem solving skill based assessments.

Comments from the students on the summer school included: “All of the academic sessions are good and well-prepared especially presentation and problem-solving skills, public law, EU Law and trial skills.”

Students also praised the quality teaching. “All the teachers are excellent and the sessions were really interesting,” said one of the course attendees.
