The University of Law (ULaw) and Damar Training (Damar) announce the launch of a new partnership designed to transform the national apprenticeship offering for law firms, allowing them to grow their own talent and build diversity.
Established in response to the Apprenticeship Levy and new standards for paralegals, solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives, ULaw and Damar’s partnership will allow legal sector employers to access expertise across a wide range of apprenticeships, from school leaver to degree and post-graduate levels (such as the new solicitor apprenticeship) as well as unparalleled industry knowledge and experience.
The strategic partnership recognises the evolving nature of legal practice and reflects both providers’ commitment to embrace new pathways and to offer a comprehensive service for employers and apprentices alike, from apprentice recruitment through to qualification.
Jonathan Bourne, Damar’s Managing Director, explained the rationale: “The development of apprenticeships at graduate and post-graduate levels lays down a challenge for a UK education sector where, currently, there are no institutions with experience of delivering vocational education from school-leaver up to degree and post-graduate level. Damar and ULaw together have significant experience across this range of provision and so a joint offer is the natural solution.”
Professor Andrea Nollent, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at ULaw added:
“Law firms and apprentices will benefit from an innovative approach that combines academic excellence with practical training and skills development, through Damar’s extensive apprenticeship and legal education expertise and our commitment to providing world-class legal education and training for the next generation of law professionals”
The new partnership further strengthens the existing apprenticeship offering at ULaw which features the Articled Apprenticeship Programme, Legal Administration and Legal Services Apprenticeships. Further information can be found here.
