Our LPC students win industry-leading family law prize

Four ULaw students have been jointly awarded a prestigious prize for outstanding achievement in family law studies.

Jennifer Peebles, Shabana Islam, Stacey de Souza, and Gillian Ashcroft have won the Resolution Prize, awarded annually by family law organisation Resolution to the student or students who obtain the highest overall mark in the family law paper of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at The University of Law.

All four students achieved 95% on the family law paper.

The winning students are drawn from across ULaw’s eight centres: Jennifer and Shabana study at Guildford, while Stacey and Gillian are based at Bloomsbury and Manchester respectively.

Stacey said: “This prize means a lot. It feels wonderful to have my passion for family law recognised but it is also very reassuring to have my decision to pursue a career in this area of law confirmed.”

Amanda Desforges, LPC course leader, said: “These four students have achieved an exceptional mark in their family law papers thanks to their sheer hard work, dedication, and talent. They thoroughly deserve the recognition and opportunities that come with the Resolution prize; we are extremely proud of them.”

Nigel Shepherd, Chair of Resolution, said: “These students have achieved an outstanding mark in this fascinating and challenging area of law, and I would like to offer all of them my congratulations. Resolution is proud to sponsor this award, which identifies the brightest talents in the next generation of family lawyers.”
