From a young age, I have dreamt of becoming a lawyer and I recognised that attending university was the essential step towards achieving that ambition. I chose The University of Law for my postgraduate studies because of its innovative approach to preparing students for the Solicitors Qualifying Course (SQE), while also allowing me the opportunity to earn my Master’s degree. This combination truly sets the stage for my professional journey.

Studying online as an international student has been a delightful experience. The dynamic of interacting with my classmates feels like being part of a vibrant chat room, where I can receive feedback at various times throughout the day. This flexibility fosters a supportive learning environment and I genuinely appreciate the diverse perspectives that my peers bring to our discussions.

Studying online has provided me with invaluable flexibility. I can engage with my modules and study chapters at times that best suit my schedule, which is particularly beneficial given my full-time job. This balance allows me to pursue my academic goals while fulfilling my professional responsibilities.

The application process was smooth and straightforward. The University has streamlined everything, making it easy to navigate. I didn't encounter any significant hurdles and the IT team was incredibly responsive whenever I needed assistance, especially when I occasionally forgot my login information.

I am incredibly grateful for the support of my Academic Coach, Lorraine Dufflett. She has been an invaluable resource throughout my programme. I’ve reached out to her with countless questions, even those that I felt might be too trivial. Lorraine's kindness and guidance have made a significant difference in my educational journey and I truly appreciate her dedication to helping me succeed.

One of the biggest challenges I face as a full-time student is balancing my academic workload with my full-time job. At first, this proved to be overwhelming; however, I've learned that sticking to a well-structured schedule is key. I meticulously plan my week down to the hour, which has helped me manage my commitments effectively.

Building a sense of community has been a positive experience thus far. Many of us online students connect through messaging platforms like WhatsApp, where we share ideas, support each other and foster friendships. This sense of camaraderie makes the online experience feel more connected and engaging.

Honestly, managing the course alongside my other commitments has been challenging. Currently, my social life has taken a backseat but I’m okay with that because I am focused on my end goal. I understand that this commitment is temporary and it’s all part of the journey towards achieving my aspirations.

Studying internationally has opened up a world of opportunities for me to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This experience enriches my understanding of different perspectives and enhances my communication skills; traits that are essential for becoming a well-rounded legal practitioner in today's globalised world.
