Criminal Investigation Day: The Tony Martin Case (Birmingham Campus)
Join The University of Law for our Criminal Investigation Day. Together we will investigate the facts, evidence and build a timeline of events surrounding the Tony Martin case; the shooting of a burglar at a Norfolk farmer’s home. Over 23 years on, we will revisit what happened, explore what evidence and take a closer look at gun culture in the UK and around the world.
You will have the opportunity to examine the witness statements in this case and to experience being on the prosecution or defence team in a mock trial. How would you convince the judge that you are right?
This event is for anyone looking to experience what the role of a lawyer, criminologist, forensic police officer or judge would be like, and to find out how they interrelate with each other. You will develop vital skills for the workplace and further education, such as; debating, public speaking, logical thinking and cross-examination.
