CheekyLittleCareers and The University of Law are delighted to be hosting a live fireside chat with Pinsent Masons corporate partner Hammad Akhtar. Host Husnara Begum, associate editor at CheekyLittleCareers and ex-Linklaters corporate lawyer, will host the chat. She’ll be asking questions ranging from Hammad’s career path to partnership, what working in Corporate law is like and life at Pinsent Masons. This event is ideal for aspiring City solicitors who want to boost their commercial awareness and gain an insight into working in the city. The interview will last 40 mins and follow immediately with a Q&A so participants have an opportunity to ask Hammad their own questions. Hammad is a corporate partner at Pinsent Masons. He is based in the firm’s London office and is the Global Head of the firm’s Corporate Practice for the Financial Services Sector. Hammad started his career at Herbert Smith (now HSF) joining the partnership there in 2010. In 2013 he moved to Ashurst where he held a number of senior management roles including the role of Graduate Recruitment Partner. In April 2017 he took up his current role at Pinsent Masons. Hammad advises insurers, banks and other financial institutions on a broad range of strategic transactions including M&A, restructurings, reinsurance and schemes of arrangement. Last year Hammad and his team won the prestigious Insurance Team of the Year and Regulatory Team of the Year awards, and were commended by the Financial Times for their innovation on a complex Brexit related cross-border transfer of insurance business.
