CheekyLittleCareers X Ulaw Fireside Chat: Commercial Awareness Edition w/ Chris Burdett (Clyde & Co)

CheekyLittleCareers and The University of Law are delighted to be hosting a live fireside chat with Chris , partner at Clyde & Co. Host Husnara Begum, associate editor at CheekyLittleCareers and ex-Linklaters corporate lawyer, will host the chat. She’ll be asking questions ranging from Chris' career path to partnership, what working in Corporate law is like and life at Clyde & Co. Chris Burdett is Clyde & Co’s practice head for London Commercial Litigation. He has a varied litigation practice but focuses mostly on IT disputes and cross border litigation. He is recognised by clients as being a heavyweight litigator but also a promoter of dialogue and resolution where possible. He travels regularly and worked for a period in Dubai. Amongst other adventures he went to Sierra Leone to negotiate with the Government over unpaid weaponry and to Milan as bullets were delivered to his client’s family (there is so much more to that story…). Chris joined the firm as an out-door clerk straight from school and worked his way up through the ranks. In the early days he had to work hard to overcome others preconceptions and assumptions and well understands the kind of challenges that junior lawyers can face in making their mark. This event is ideal for aspiring City solicitors who want to boost their commercial awareness and gain an insight into working in the city. The interview will last 40 mins and follow immediately with a Q&A so participants have an opportunity to ask Chris their own questions.
