This specialist course is aimed at those looking to advance their careers in global financial compliance.  Students will be fully equipped to look at not only regulations and compliance functions, but also at other risks faced by financial institutions including market, credit and liquidity. 

This course provides an in-depth understanding of financial markets and the changing place of financial institutions in the global economy. The main focus is to explore various threats and risks to financial institutions and the role of the compliance function in helping to identify and combat them.  This course provides the optimal mix of theory and practical application of knowledge via real life case studies. 

On successful completion of this course, graduates will become key players in the roles of corporate global risk management, global audit and compliance coordination, corporate social responsibility and ethics management, security and compliance management in all types of financial institutions.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This Master’s degree is ideal for those interested in switching to or progressing within a career in financial compliance. 

COURSE CONTENT & STRUCTURE

Students will study for one year, which is divided into two semesters and the summer period for the dissertation. Students will study four modules, each worth 30 credits; and another module worth 60 credits, totalling 180 credits.

The course will cover the following modules:

  • Fundamentals of Securities and Investments (30)
  • Global Financial Compliance (30)
  • Risk Management and Compliance Functions under Basel III (30 credits)
  • Financial Crime, AML and Cyber Crime (30 credits)
  • Research Methods, Professional Development and Dissertation / Project (60 credits)

Students who graduate from this degree may consider the following options if they wish to continue their studies:

  • PhD
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Other professional accounting qualifications
