Learn Your Way: Studying the LLB Online

We provide a number of different pathways for undergraduates to complete their LLB, including part-time and distance learning. Here, we’ve put together some facts about our Online LLB, so you don’t have to let your ambition be limited by distance, time, or personal circumstances.

The LLB is the preferred undergraduate route into law, providing a qualification equivalent to a BA or BSc. A law degree is an excellent starting point for a diverse range of legal careers from solicitor and barrister to judge or paralegal. Outside of the legal industry, a law degree can lead to careers in journalism, politics, HR, finance and much more.

For those with aspirations of becoming a lawyer, studying the LLB is the first academic step towards qualifying. Our LLB courses are carefully designed to equip students with legal practise skills, as well as be prepared to undertake further study to qualify in your chosen area. Studying this degree online has the added benefit of instilling a high level of self-discipline and organisation, both of which are crucial to flourish as an online student.

Study from anywhere

Our Online LLB allows you to study from anywhere in the world, making it a great choice for international students who aren’t in a position to re-locate. This transition can not only be costly but creates the additional challenge of being far away from family and friends.

Online study is also an excellent choice for budding lawyers who have family or care responsibilities, requiring a more flexible approach to studying. For some, studying the LLB online may just be a gateway to travel whilst studying and not be tied to one city or area.

Study full or part-time

We have a range of study options – over 3 years (full-time), 4 or 6 years (part-time) – all leading to the same qualification and studying the same materials as students studying face-to-face.

As well as online study, we offer various ways to complete your LLB face-to-face. In addition to full and part-time study options, you can also enrol in our Accelerated LLB Law. This is an ideal option for those with time and capacity to complete the course in a two-year period.

What to expect from the Online LLB

We’ve cut out the travel time and needing to attend to in-person classes. However, live online sessions run in all modules every week so that you can get together with your tutors and peers to learn about the topics being studied and share ideas.  If you cannot attend these live sessions, recordings will be made available for you to watch at your convenience. Additionally, you’ll still get plenty of one-to-one support from your module tutors and your Academic Coach and have access to all the resources you need for successful study online.

Induction is online, and assessments take the form of coursework, projects, presentations, and a variety of methods suited to each module, with all assessments taking place online. As an Online student, you will be able to access the support services which are available to all our students, such as our library services, employability and pro bono, and wellbeing.

The only thing you really miss out on with online study is the group work that on-campus study provides, meaning that a high level of self-motivation and discipline is needed to stay on track. Online students do often meet in forums or other online mediums to support each other though, so you can start to build up a network of fellow students to ensure that you feel embedded in the university community.

As well as the LLB Law Online, we have a range of other LLB’s to suit your interests and career ambitions within law. Whether your passion lies with criminology, business, or politics, we have an Online LLB to suit your needs.
