Starting in September 2022, The University of Law (ULaw) will deliver a new four year Integrated Master's, the MLaw (Solicitors’ Practice)*, which combines ULaw’s LLB Law with professional SQE1 and SQE2 preparation modules, preparing students to sit the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) in the final year of study.
Combining all the academic knowledge needed to become a solicitor, this integrated degree means law students will only need to fulfil the Qualifying Work Experience requirement on graduation to qualify as a solicitor. The University of Law’s SQE expertise makes this integrated route to becoming a solicitor an efficient choice to fulfill the ambitions of the next generation of legal professionals.
The degree benefits from being eligible for full undergraduate student loan funding, has a practical and employability focus and is designed to cover a comprehensive legal curriculum over four years. Taught predominantly by qualified lawyers, the course focuses on the knowledge and skills that law firms are seeking, so that students will be prepared for the realities of life in legal practice.
The first three years of the MLaw programme involve study of ULaw’s LLB modules which cover the necessary foundation subjects and the syllabus areas for the SQE1 examination. Over years three and four, students will gain all the necessary knowledge and skills to sit SQE1 and SQE2 assessments to prepare for a career as a solicitor.
The Integrated MLaw (Solicitors' Practice) course will commence at ULaw’s Birmingham, Leeds, London Bloomsbury and Manchester campuses in September 2022.
