US firm Weil Gotshal & Manges has signed up the College of Law to run the LPC+ course for its future trainee solicitors starting in September 2009.

7 April 2008: Birmingham Law Student to Run Marathon for Arthritis Care
Marianne Russell, aged 25, a student at The College of Law in Birmingham, is running in Sunday’s 26 mile long London Marathon (April 13th) to raise at least £2,000 for Arthritis Care on behalf of members of her family and a close friend crippled by rheumatoid arthritis.

Eleven leading Midlands law firms have formed a new commercial property consortium in conjunction with The College of Law to pioneer a pooled structured training programme for junior property lawyers. The training courses will be delivered by the College at its Birmingham centre in Great Hampton Street in the city’s Jewellery Quarter.

24 January 2008: Small And Medium Firms Would Be Disadvantaged By New LDP Framework
A warning that small and medium-sized firms will be “disadvantaged disproportionately” by the new legal disciplinary practice (LDP) provisions of the Legal Services Act has been made by the Legal Services Policy Institute in its response to the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) Consultation Paper on new forms of practice and regulation.
