National Law Fair 2018

27 June 2018

The University of Law hosted the annual National Law Fair last week, drawing current and prospective students and a wide range of law firms, organisations and recruiters.

The Law Fair held at the University’s Moorgate campus in London provided students with a unique opportunity to talk to recruiters and trainees from law firms and recruiters from across the UK. Exhibitors at the event included CMS, Charles Russell Speechlys, Gowling WLG, Fieldfisher and many more.

Students were also given the chance to attend two seminars that were being carried out on the day. “Understanding why employers attend Careers Fairs and what you should do next” helped students to understand the motivations of the exhibitors, providing them with a new appreciation of the employer perspective and the proactive steps they should take after the fair.

Also available was a session on “How to manage and optimise your online profile to enhance your employability”. This gave students invaluable guidance on CV creation, digital brand management and securing legal work.

John Watkins, Employability Director at The University of Law, said: “The forthcoming changes to the profession make this a fascinating time to be engaging with employers and finding out about their plans for the future.”

The University of Law Employability Services team were on hand throughout the day to provide personal CV clinics where students could bring along their record of achievement and gain top tips on how to make their application rise to the top of the pile during the competitive job application process.

Mr Watkins added: “I’d like to thank all the law firms, organisations and recruiters that shared their time at the National Law Fair this year and wish all the students good luck with their future careers.”
