Legalex - helping law firms grow and legal professionals develop

Legalex is the UK’s first, largest and fastest growing legal event specifically designed to help ambitious law firms grow and legal professionals develop. This year Legalex is partnering with LawWorks (the Solicitors Pro Bono Group) and the Bar Pro Bono Unit and will be held at ExCeL London from 21st to 22nd March 2018.

The expo will feature 150 CPD accredited seminars from leading speakers. Keynote speakers include ULaw alumna Dr Miranda Brawn of Daiwa Capital Markets Europe Limited, discussing diversity and Brett Johnson of Anglerphish Security, discussing his experience as America’s former most wanted cyber-criminal. Representatives from some of the leading companies and organisations will be sharing their experiences and advice on various subjects across the legal field.

‘Legalex 2018 has firmly established itself as the most important event on the legal calendar across the UK and Europe. We provide an unrivalled service to the forward-thinking law firms and legal professionals from across the globe, that no other legal event can match…” – Jamie O’Neil, Legalex Event Director

Legalex, running alongside The Legal Cyber Security Expo, features a number of speakers who specialise in cyber security, A.I and legal technology. With the increasing threat of cyber-attacks and data breaches, these subjects are more relevant than ever.

Companies such as LEAP, Quiss, Lloyds Bank Plc, Clio and Epson make up just a few of the 200 suppliers that will be exhibiting their products and services throughout the event.

Visitors to Legalex will also be able to take advantage of one-to-one advice from industry experts as well as the unparalleled networking opportunities.

We asked John Watkins, ULaw Employability Director, why events such as Legalex are important for students:

‘Any event which gathers experts together provides an opportunity for learning and personal development. Whether it is meeting professionals in person or simply hearing their take on the issues of the day, it should strengthen your knowledge and commercial awareness, thus enhancing performance in the workplace.

‘Professional fora are useful because all attendees (and particularly speakers and exhibitors) should have given real thought on what they are going to say and how they will communicate their message. Therefore you should have access to some well-informed figures who are alive to the latest thinking and willing to share opinions on potential future developments.

‘Such events allow you to meet and size up fellow professionals and the firms they represent. It is a chance to compare messages and to see whether ideas, attitudes and ambitions are similar or reflect different strategies and approaches.

‘Students attending such a professional forum can see the current state of the workplace and understand the potential future direction. They can prepare for the workplace with a better idea on how to establish themselves at the start of their career and prosper in the longer term.’

Tickets to Legalex are available for free through their website.
