The University of Law (ULaw) is to launch a nine month intensive MA Law degree from September 2017, which is designed for non-law graduates who want to gain a legal qualification at Masters Level.
The programme, which will run initially at The University of Law’s Birmingham and London Moorgate centres, will help students develop evaluation, critical thinking, research and problem-solving skills which will prepare them for further academic study in law and other related business areas.
The course is ideal for students who wish to receive an internationally recognised Masters award which is highly attractive to employers across industry sectors. It will also satisfy the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Bar Standards Board (BSB) should students subsequently decide to proceed with legal vocational training down either the LPC or BPC route.
Students will receive unrivalled face-to-face teaching and tutor support from qualified lawyers with practical experience. They will learn through practical workshops, problem-based learning, negotiations, mooting and presentations, developing essential skills in analysis and research.
Part of the syllabus will include the preparation of a research report into an area of law which most interests the student. To enrol in the course students will require 2:1 at the undergraduate level.
As the MA Law is a postgraduate Masters course, students may also be eligible to borrow up to £10,000 via a Postgraduate Loan from the Student Loans Company. There will also be a number of scholarships and bursaries available to students, subject to eligibility.
