The University of Law announces exclusive training partnership with Fladgate

The University of Law (ULaw), the largest and longest established provider of professional legal education, has signed an exclusive three-year training partnership with Fladgate, the international Top 100 law firm. This is the first time that the London based law firm has sponsored students on legal training contracts with one provider.

ULaw was chosen following a competitive tender as the sole provider for their Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) programmes starting September at the university’s Moorgate campus. Fladgate’s decision was driven by ULaw’s s commitment to deliver a first-class legal education which aims to equip students with the practical and commercial skills needed to succeed in today’s ever changing legal environment.

New trainees at Fladgate will benefit from ULaw’s approach to learning, which combines academic rigour with practical legal skills. Throughout their studies, trainees will be supported by expert tutors who are qualified lawyers or barristers with extensive practice experience and encouraged to think and act like professionals.

Fladgate has 74 partners and is renowned for its work in fields such as banking and finance; commercial law; construction; corporate; employment; private wealth; real estate and tax.

Dr. Stelios Platis, Managing Director of ULaw, says: “We are delighted to be working with Fladgate to provide legal education and training for their next generation of law professionals. We are confident that our GDL and LPC qualifications will equip the firm’s trainees with the edge they need to succeed in a highly competitive and rapidly evolving market”

Philip Turner, Training Principal at Fladgate, says: “The partnership with ULaw is the next exciting step in the upgrading of the Fladgate offering to prospective trainees. Not only will funding be available for the GDL and LPC but we will work closely with ULaw to ensure that our trainees receive the best possible preparation for their career at Fladgate on an academic, commercial and practical basis.”

ULaw has strengthened its links with professional firms in recent months. The partnership with Fladgate follows recently announced training agreements with Fieldfisher and Trowers & Hamlins.
