• Aspiring barrister takes to the plinth in Trafalgar Square

    9 October 2009

Melanie Smith, a Bar Vocational Course student at the College, showed just what lengths aspiring barristers are prepared to go to in order to stand out from the crowd when applying for pupillage.

Melanie, who is studying at our Bloomsbury centre, managed to secure a slot on the fourth plinth in London’s Trafalgar Square to raise awareness of the importance of public speaking. She spent an hour reciting speeches from famous public speakers including Cherie Booth, Winston Churchill and Nelson Mandela.
