QAA for Higher Education lauds ULaw for enhancing student learning

The University of Law (ULaw) has been commended by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) for the enhancement of student learning opportunities. Only 25% of Universities and Colleges with higher education provision achieved a Commendation during 2014/15 and 2015/16.

The report identified a number of good practice areas, including the use of consistent and comprehensive data which enables the University to effectively manage the delivery of programmes across locations, ULaw’s engagement with employers to enhance learning opportunities for students and the strategic approach to enhancement across the University's delivery sites which promotes innovation and evaluates the impact on student learning opportunities.  The review team made no recommendations for action.  This is unusual, with only 5% of universities receiving no recommendations in the period from 2015 to 2017.

The QAA review team formed the following additional judgments about the higher education provision:   the setting and maintenance of the academic standards of awards, the quality of student learning opportunities and the quality of the information about learning opportunities all meet UK expectations.

Professor Andrea Nollent, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of The University of Law, said: “We are thrilled to have received such an excellent review from QAA, which demonstrates our commitment to providing a world class education to aspiring legal professionals. We continuously strive to ensure that students are equipped with every possible opportunity to succeed during their careers and this result is a well-deserved testament to the hard work of ULaw’s staff and students alike.”

Higher Education Review aims to inform students and the wider public on whether academic and quality standards have been met. The review took place in early October 2017 and was carried out by staff and students from other providers.
