The University of Law has entered into a historic consultancy agreement with the Ministry of Justice in Uzbekistan

One of the UK's longest-established specialist providers of legal education and training in the UK, The University of Law (ULaw), has entered into a historic consultancy agreement with the Ministry of Justice in Uzbekistan, to provide consultancy for the establishment of a new International University of Law in Uzbekistan.

The ULaw delegation, visited Tashkent from 17-22 October and also held meetings with colleagues from the Tashkent State University of Law at their campus to discuss further strategic partnerships.

ULaw also participated in the UK Law Society Legal Conference on 17 & 18 October in Tashkent, and in workshops about the Legal reform of Uzbekistan as well as undertaking high-level discussions on perspectives of implementing English law in Uzbekistan. The ULaw delegation consisted of Vassilis Konstantinou, Pro Vice-Chancellor – International Development and Tatiana Rizopoulou, Director of International Partnerships.

This partnership between ULaw and the Ministry of Justice in Uzbekistan will enable the delivery of a feasibility study for the establishment of the new university branch with a six year roadmap supporting the implementation of the Uzbekistan’s government ambitious plan for legal reform.

ULaw was called as the leading UK legal education provider to operate as the academic and quality advisor to the Ministry of Justice in Uzbekistan.

Vassilis Konstantinou said: “We are very excited about the opportunity to help the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan to establish a new International University of Law which will run new interdisciplinary courses that are suited to the new Uzbekistan markets. Uzbekistan is a fast-growing economy and a new hub for investors and international business and it is interesting to develop connections with the local government and play an integral part in their legal reform.”
