The University of Law and The University of Reading partner to support the next generation of legal professionals

The University of Law (ULaw) is pleased to announce that it will be collaborating with the University of Reading to provide postgraduate legal training courses.

As part of the relationship, ULaw will offer postgraduate courses focussed on practice-based training at the University of Reading’s London Road campus. From September 2017, ULaw’s Legal Practice Course (LPC) will be available as a full-time study option for students with a law degree who wish to practise as a solicitor.[1]

In addition, the ULaw Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) will also be available at the University of Reading from 2018 as a full-time study option for non-law graduates who wish to progress onto the LPC or BPTC.

ULaw’s heritage as a market leading legal education provider will allow students to benefit from its established courses, equipping them with the skills needed to succeed in business and the changing world of legal training. This complements the University of Reading’s leading postgraduate offering and its commitment to supporting its students in achieving their future ambitions.

Professor Susan Breau, Head of the School of Law at the University of Reading, said: “Our undergraduate degree and postgraduate masters courses are designed to introduce students to the academic discipline of law and to prepare students to work in the legal profession. With law graduates in high demand, we look forward to the opportunities that collaboration with The University of Law will bring, and to continuing to develop a strong professional and academic law offer here at the University of Reading.”

Professor Andrea Nollent, Vice-Chancellor & CEO at The University of Law, said: “We are delighted to announce this collaboration with the University of Reading, which is testament to The University of Law’s continued commitment towards delivering increased access to legal education for aspiring law professionals.”

“Combining ULaw’s standing as the top ranked institution for student satisfaction in the UK with the University of Reading’s world-class reputation, we believe our collective strength will equip students looking to enter the legal profession with the very best skills needed to succeed in a competitive market.”

Kevin Griffiths, Director of Business Development and Planning at The University of Law, said: “This collaboration reflects our objective to make legal careers as accessible as possible by expanding the provision of quality professional legal education to students in more locations around the country. We look forward to working closely with the University of Reading to train and support the next generation of legal professionals.”

University of Reading students enrolling on ULaw’s LPC or GDL will be supported by the full ULaw offering. This includes access to its award-winning pro bono service and committed Careers and Employability service, highlighted by a strong track record of 97% of ULaw’s full-time LPC graduates gaining employment within 9 months of graduation.[2]
