Your Employability Roadmap

We have a programme of activities and career support designed to help you at every step of the way towards a successful career.

  • Open days and employability events: Our careers experts will be available to offer that initial support and direction. Find an event near you.
  • Access our employability and career support: If you have a conditional or unconditional offer, you can access our employability support before you start your course with us.
  • Getting started: Getting started with the employability team couldn't be simpler, all you need to do is email the careers team at your campus (careers-*your campus*@law.ac.uk) e.g. if you are studying at Bristol then [email protected].

 

  • Gain employability skills: Employability is embedded into all our courses. You’ll develop leadership skills, learn how to run your own business, how to deal with challenging situations, and how to manage people.
  • Placement Year: Options are available on our undergraduate business programmes. Visit Undergraduate Placement Year to find out more.
  • Professional Development: All our master’s business courses include our Professional Development – Employability and Leadership module. You’ll develop skills and expertise that you can put into practice immediately, ensuring you get your career off to the best possible start. For more information, watch our short video.
  • Inspirational events: You’ll be invited to a variety of events, including guest speakers, panel discussions, masterclasses and competitions. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in our Virtual Leadership Experience, one of our most highly rated events, working in teams to solve problems by collaborating with students across all campuses and courses.
  • Careers advice and support: Our team of careers consultants will help you identify the right business career option for you, help you navigate recruitment processes, and equip you with the skills and insight to succeed as your career progresses. You’ll receive practical support through one-to-one careers appointments and group workshops, including how to present CVs and covering letters, and how to excel at video interviews and assessment centres.
  • Professional memberships: Our Business School is a member of the Business Graduates Association (BGA) and all students are eligible for BGA membership, completely free of charge. As a BGA member, you’ll be able to network with an international community of over 4,000 business students and graduates. You’ll also have access to a range of services, including networking events, development webinars, thought leadership content, and careers resources.

As an alumni you can benefit from ongoing career support after graduating:

  • CMI accreditation: Many of our business programmes include an additional professional CMI accreditation. This accreditation will give you evidence of the skills demanded by employers. You’ll also receive CMI Affiliate membership (saving you the annual fee of £180), which provides a range of curriculum enrichment opportunities and access to a wealth of resources to support you throughout your career.   • Professional memberships: You’ll continue to be a member of the Business Graduates Association (BGA). You’ll be able to network with an international community of over 4,000 business students and graduates. You’ll also have access to a range of services, including networking events, development webinars, thought leadership content, and careers resources.
  • Alumni network: By joining our Alumni network you can continue to access our exclusive job vacancy database and a host of careers resources and materials, along with personalised one-to-one support from our expert careers team who can provide help with any advice, including application help, interview preparation and career direction.
  • Employment Promise: For Postgraduate students, we’re so confident you’ll succeed that if you don’t obtain a job in nine months after completing your course you'll get 100% of your fees back, made up of 50% as cashback, plus 50% as credit towards another course, through our Employment Promise.
